Giancarlo Melgar

Giancarlo Melgar Novoa is a Peruvian visual artist born in Arequipa and based in Lima. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (Painting) and a technical degree in Graphic Design. He works as an illustrator on both national and international projects.

His artistic practice develops along two lines: an interdisciplinary approach—including installation, photography, sound, and video art—and a second line rooted in the visual arts, based on experimentation with both traditional and unconventional materials.

Through drawing, he critically investigates the landscape, seeking to create a dialogue between traditional techniques and contemporary resources in order to amplify the symbolic dimension of both production and exhibition.
